The finishing detail above your seats
Your headliner is the lining across the inside of the roof. It is easy to overlook until a hand mark, splash or patch of discoloration catches your eye beside the visor.
Focused ceiling care helps bring that area into line with the rest of a freshly detailed cabin. The aim is a cleaner, more even appearance while respecting the fabric’s texture and attachment.

A stain, a water ring or loose fabric?
These concerns can look similar at a glance, but they call for different kinds of attention.
Surface marks on firmly attached lining
Localized dirt, fingerprints and splash marks may respond to cleaning. Older stains, previous products and uneven wear can affect the result, so removal of every mark is not guaranteed.
Water marks that keep returning
A ring alone does not identify its cause. If the area becomes damp again after rain or washing, the moisture source needs attention; cleaning cannot repair a leaking seal or blocked drain.
Sagging, bubbles or separating material
Cleaning does not reattach loose roof lining or replace deteriorated backing. An automotive upholstery specialist can assess repair needs before the affected fabric receives further treatment.
Why the fabric and backing matter
Many fabric headliners have backing and adhesive beneath the visible surface. Heavy wetting and aggressive rubbing can damage that construction, making controlled moisture and gentle contact important.
A product suitable for a floor mat is not automatically suitable overhead. Material-specific guidance matters, particularly for suede-like finishes; Dr. Beasley’s headliner care guidance also emphasizes gentle treatment and avoiding oversaturation.
Where the $79 add-on fits
Headliner Cleaning is an optional service focused on the ceiling lining. Add it to your selected detail when the overhead fabric needs attention beyond the rest of your cabin.
For broader cabin care, explore Interior Car Detailing; choose Full Car Detailing when both inside and outside need work. Your detailing package and selected extras are priced separately.
Included basic carpet/upholstery cleaning and seat conditioning do not include shampooing. Floor fabrics needing more intensive cleaning have their own Carpet & Mat Shampooing add-on, distinct from ceiling care.
Questions about cleaners, smells and results
Which cleaner is best for a car headliner?
There is no single cleaner suitable for every roof lining. Match the product to the material and vehicle guidance, and avoid aggressive scrubbing or soaking the surface.
Does ceiling cleaning remove smoke or musty odors?
The headliner may be one source, but odors can also involve seats, carpets or other areas. Our separate Car Odor Removal service addresses odor concerns beyond the appearance of the ceiling.
Can a faded or damaged patch be cleaned away?
Cleaning may improve surface soiling, but it cannot replace missing fibers or reverse every color change. A cleaner patch may still look different if the material itself has worn or faded.
How long does cleaning and drying take?
Timing depends on the material, affected area, treatment and drying conditions. Allow the lining to dry fully before judging the final appearance; no fixed completion or drying time applies to every vehicle.
